Have you ever looked at your yard and questioned why certain animals or insects are present and others are not? Or perhaps you would like to learn more about your property and what species are supported by its ecological features. LPLC developed a new Conservation Monitoring Program to help you become a citizen scientist and answer these questions and more.

This August, we invite you to join us for a pollinator monitoring demonstration to learn about what it means to be a citizen scientist. This event will feature a brief discussion about the art of citizen science and observational data collection on private lands. We will then walk the gardens and grounds at Heaven Hill Farm to understand how a property is enrolled in our Conservation Monitoring Program. We will also explore the steps landowners will take to collect and submit valuable biological observations into a national database, and begin to understand how this information informs us of the biological diversity in the High Peaks region of the Adirondacks.

The monitoring demonstration will be a followed by a light reception featuring wonderful foods from local farms in order to highlight just how important pollinators are to our food system and economy.

This event is free and open to the public.
