Pollinator Monitoring Demonstration at Common Ground Gardens
August 16, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
This August, we invite you to join us for a pollinator monitoring demonstration to learn about what it means to be a citizen scientist. This event will feature a brief discussion about the art of citizen science and observational data collection, and then share the findings collected by gardeners throughout the summer.
In May, 2017, we met with the gardeners at Saranac Lake’s Common Ground Gardens’ sites and invited them to monitor for pollinators through LPLC’s Conservation Monitoring Program. By taking photographs, making observations, and submitting this information through the iNaturalist app, LPLC will be able to gather information that may begin to tell us how pollinators use the gardens, such as which plants attract the most bees.
Monitoring for pollinators at Common Ground Gardens is easy and free! We hope you will be part of a great collaboration that combines a love of being in nature and gardening with a little bit of science.
