Community Conservation Program Workshops

The Lake Placid Land Conservancy (LPLC) will be hosting a series of community conservation workshops this summer intended for landowners who are interested in discussing conservation and stewardship opportunities for private lands in communities in the Adirondacks.

Through the use of newly developed GIS maps and database information, our goal is to encourage discussion and engagement with landowners, community leaders, local government officials and other community organizations about important ecological, political and economic values that inform conservation and stewardship of private lands in our region.

Information discussed at the workshops will be used to support the development of LPLC’s new Community Conservation Monitoring Program. Once completed in 2017, our Community Conservation Monitoring Program will offer interested and qualified landowners the opportunity to enroll in a program that will provide them with a written evaluation and assessment  of their properties’ natural resources and support them with implementing conservation monitoring protocols that will allow them to gather important information about their property’s unique conservation values.  Additionally, the program will provide landowners with the opportunity to connect with a network of landowners and conservation organizations involved in voluntary, conservation monitoring.

Our workshops will:

  • Respond to specific community needs
  • Connect people with people, land resources and agency resources
  • Create opportunities for engagement with local conservation initiatives
  • Provide lasting and meaningful impact on our region
